Aprilia RS, RX & SX 50 Seat Cover: Custom Fit, Built for Your Ride
Aprilia RS, RX & SX 50 Seat Cover: Custom Fit, Built for Your Ride
You didn't pick an Aprilia 50 by accident. Maybe you went for an RS 50, faired up like a scaled-down sportbike. Maybe you racked up muddy trails on an RX. Or maybe you were pulling your first wheelies on an SX outside school while everyone else just watched. In the world of AM6 Minarelli-powered geared mopeds, this machine has a face all its own. Trouble is, the stock seat doesn't go the distance. The cover cracks along the edges, the colour fades, it goes shiny right where your jeans have been rubbing for three years. And the day a tear opens up, water runs straight into the foam, it rots from the inside, and at that point there's nothing left to do. A BKS cover built for your Aprilia is what separates a seat that shows its age from one that looks as sharp as day one.
We work out of Pia, in the Pyrénées-Orientales (66). Every cover is hand-stitched with marine-grade thread, the kind that doesn't quit under the July sun or three straight days of rain. And we know the Aprilia 50 family well, because it's exactly the kind of machine we love to dress up.
RS, RX, SX: three Aprilias, three completely different seats
Park an RS next to an RX, look at the two seats, and the difference jumps right out at you. The shape, the height, the way you sit on it, everything changes. Yet most cheap covers assume the opposite: a 50 seat is a 50 seat, one pattern for everybody. On one of these three machines, it always ends the same way, a corner that lifts or a wrinkle running across the seat. And on an Aprilia, with its instantly recognisable lines, that doesn't fly.
Here's the catch: the RS, RX and SX 50 all run fine on the same AM6 block, but that's where the similarities end on the seat side. The length of the seat, the foam height and the way the cover staples under the base all change from one model to the next. That's exactly what we work on, version by version.
The RS 50, the sportbike that forgives nothing
On the faired RS 50, the seat is thin, stretched out, built for the arms-forward, butt-back position. Reckon roughly 65 to 70 cm of usable seat, fairly flat and taut, sitting on a narrow rear base. And that's exactly what makes fitting it tricky: on a machine this sleek, the slightest flaw sticks out like a sore thumb. An RS cover gets pulled tight so it hugs that line down to the millimetre, like a skin, not like a sock yanked on in a hurry.
The RX 50, the enduro where you're moving around constantly
The RX 50 plays the off-road card: a higher, narrower seat, firmer foam, the kind you slide back and forth on depending on whether you're attacking a climb or braking down a descent. Cushy comfort takes a back seat, what counts is grip. A seat that slips when you're hunting for traction off the line in the mud is the opposite of what you want. Here, it's all about grip. If you're just starting out on the trails, we've got a guide that covers the whole question: the enduro seat cover for beginners.
The SX 50, the supermoto that brakes hard on the front
The SX 50 takes the RX base but puts it on tarmac: same genes, road wheels, and a programme built on wheelies at the red light and heavy braking loaded up front. Every time you brake you slide toward the tank, you reposition, and off you go again. Grip is king here too, and the material decides between a seat you stick to and one you slide on. We break down the grip-or-alcantara choice in our supermoto guide.
On all three Aprilias, the stock cover is stapled (sometimes clipped) under the plastic base. A BKS cover follows the same principle: we build it for your exact version, with its cut, its foam shape and its anchor points. The result, it pulls up perfectly, nothing bags at the corners, and it holds for years without budging an inch.
Fitting it yourself? Here's exactly how we make it
First real question before you order: who fits the cover, you or us. Either way we start from the same place, ready-to-fit covers cut to the exact pattern of your Aprilia version. No vague "50cc" pattern: an RS template, an RX template, an SX template, each its own. We cut the synthetic leather, stitch the panels and the topstitching by hand with marine thread, and fit the grip zones in the right spots based on your choice.
On the fitting side, two scenarios. The vast majority of the time, you get the cover at home and fit it yourself: you take off the seat, slip the cover over the existing one, pull it flat and tight and staple it (or fix it with the stock system) under the base. Reckon about twenty minutes, a screwdriver, a decent staple gun, and you're sorted. If you're not comfortable with that, or the foam has had it, we take your seat into the workshop and send it back ready to drop straight back on the bike (see the 100% Custom Seat further down).
Since everything is stitched to order, plan on an indicative build time of around 1 to 2 weeks before shipping, depending on the finish and the season. That's the price of handmade: we're not pulling from a stock of ready-made covers, we're cutting yours.
BKS textured synthetic leather, and why we never talk to you about leather
Our covers are made of textured synthetic leather, not leather, and that's a choice, not a budget compromise. Real leather on a bike, especially a 50 that sleeps outside or under some shed cobbled together at the bottom of the garden, turns into a nightmare: it soaks up water, swells, splits in the sun, and demands feeding every couple of weeks or it dries out and cracks. Our synthetic couldn't care less. A heavy downpour, a pressure-wash after a muddy ride, the full Perpignan sun in the middle of August: it takes it all without flinching. A wipe with a sponge and you're putting the seat back on.
That textured grain also gives a relief that grabs the seat of your jeans and looks genuinely sharp, a world away from cheap smooth plastic. And for the versions that move around a lot, we step it up a notch with alcantara or grip pro: there, you're glued to the seat even mid-effort. On an RX or an SX where you're repositioning constantly, you feel the difference from the first load. To compare all three materials in detail and figure out which one suits the way you ride, we've put together a full guide: synthetic leather, alcantara or grip, which to choose.
Custom colour, that's where your Aprilia really becomes yours
An Aprilia is recognisable by its look: the black and red of the track-style RS, the aggressive, angular stance of the RX and SX. With a BKS cover, two options. Either you carry on that factory character, or you go all-in on your own livery. Running a blue and white kit? We match the seat to the exact shade. Want matte black lifted with a red pinstripe that echoes the tank colour? No problem. A race number, your embroidered initials, a grip strip in a contrasting colour right down the middle? We put all of that on. If wheelies are your thing, our article on grip for 50cc wheelies will help you place the right grip zone in the right spot. And if your seat lets you down the moment it rains, take a look at our solutions for a slippery seat.
The easiest way to picture it is our 3D configurator for 50cc seat covers. You spin your seat around on screen, you test the colours, the topstitching, the grip zones, and you see the result before you even confirm the order. No surprise when it lands: what you set on screen is what comes out of your mailbox. And if you want us to match the cover to a livery kit you've already fitted, our dedicated article explains how to match your cover to your livery.
Four finishes, from entry price to fully bespoke
We offer four cover levels, so you find yours whether you just want to freshen up your seat or pull out all the stops on your ride:
- BKS ONE: the entry-level custom, from €49.90. You pick your colour, you already get the BKS cut and stitching without breaking the bank. It's the one we most often recommend to a kid treating himself to his first cover on his RS or SX, and honestly, for the price, the jump in quality over stock shows right away.
- EVO Black Premium: a deep black, careful finishing, well-defined topstitching. For those who want understated but tough, that makes an impression without laying it on thick.
- LA BKS: the most refined result in the catalogue, the most detailed work, for when you don't want to make a single compromise.
- Custom 2D Cover: your own design, laid out flat, to match the spirit of your machine exactly.
And if your seat is truly dead, sagging foam and all, we've got the 100% Custom Seat: you send us your seat, we redo everything, foam AND cover, cut for your build and your riding style. Wondering where the prices sit before you take the plunge? We've laid it all out honestly, no funny business, in our 2026 price guide.
Why a French workshop rather than a cover dug up online
We see plenty of them go by, cheap covers on the marketplaces. The trouble is they all come off the same generic pattern, in a synthetic that peels after one summer, with thread that gives up the ghost the moment the seat heats up in the sun. You fit it, it's already pulled crooked on day one, and three months later it's in the bin. In the end, the cheap thing, you pay for it twice.
With us, every cover leaves Pia, hand-stitched, with marine-grade thread, and built for your Aprilia version. We work so it lasts years, not a season. On the practical side, it's sorted: pay in 3x or 4x interest-free if you'd rather spread it out, and free shipping from €100. And we're not the only ones saying it: 8.9/10 from 189 reviews, these are riders like you who got their cover and judged it on the spot.
Since the RS, RX and SX 50 all run the Minarelli AM6 engine, you'll find the catalogue built for these geared mopeds in the 50cc AM6 collection. If your SX is a Euro 3 version, check out the 50cc Euro 3 Derbi, Gilera & Aprilia SX collection too, and all of our 50cc seat covers to cast a wider net. Got a specific question about your RS, your RX or your SX? Write to us at contact@bikesellier.fr, we answer rider to rider, not like some robotic customer service.
A final word, straight from the workshop
If there's one piece of advice I'd give an Aprilia 50 owner who's still on the fence, it's this: before you order, run your hand over your seat and pinpoint where the wear is coming from. If it's just the cover showing its age and the foam still holds up, a ready-to-fit cover cut for your version is plenty and it's the smartest option. If you sink into the foam to the point of feeling the base, don't put a nice cover on a dead base: go straight for the 100% Custom Seat, you redo everything in one go and you're set for years. We get RS, RX and SX bikes back on the road almost every week. Most of the time, what makes all the difference isn't the price, it's just the right diagnosis at the start.
