VELTO: the premium grip seat cover that stays put
You sit your backside on your seat, you hit the throttle, and then… you slide. Under braking you shoot forward, on the way out of a corner you're busy catching yourself instead of riding. If you've already lived through that, your seat is working against you. The VELTO is our premium grip range designed for the opposite: keeping you stuck in the right spot, period. We tested it hard, here's what we really think.
So what exactly is the VELTO?
The VELTO is the most refined grip cover in the workshop. Not a smooth material, not a classic synthetic leather: a textured coating designed to grab your trousers without gluing you down either. The idea is that you keep your freedom of movement (sliding back, moving forward on the seat, standing on the pegs) but the moment you push on the footpegs or brake hard, the seat holds you.
Like all our covers, it's hand-stitched in France, in our workshop in Pia (66380), with 7 years of know-how behind it. You pick your bike model, your colours, and we make the cover bespoke for you. The VELTO is listed at 164,90 € on the product page — the price verified as we write these lines.
To order it, everything goes through our VELTO cover page, and you'll find the whole range in the 50cc seat cover collection.
Premium grip — what does it actually change?
Let's be clear: a grip cover is not a marketing gimmick. On a 50cc that pulls hard, doing supermoto or when you string wheelies together, your body position makes everything. If the seat is slippery, you spend your whole time repositioning yourself. With the VELTO, the hold is solid from the very first rides.
What we liked in the test
- Hold under braking: you no longer slide toward the tank at every grab of the brake. On heavy, hard braking, the difference is clear.
- Wheelie and balance point: you wedge your backside, it stays. No more tensing up to keep from sliding back.
- Aggressive look: the texture gives a "racing" feel that pops, especially on flashy colour combos.
- Standing position: the grip helps lock your footing when you stand up on the pegs.
What you should know before you take the plunge
Let's be honest: a grip this pronounced rubs a bit more on your trousers than a smooth surface. That's the very principle of the hold. If you're after a seat where you slide to reposition yourself on a chilled cruise, the VELTO may not be for you — look at the Alcantara instead. But if you want it to hold, that's exactly what you're after.
On lifespan, we won't promise you a magic number: it depends on how you ride, your upkeep and sun exposure. What we guarantee is the hand-stitching and a coating chosen to take a beating. For the rest, treat it well (we cover that below).
VELTO vs Alcantara vs Evo Black: which one for you?
Three different philosophies, three different riders. Here's how we tell them apart.
| Criterion | VELTO | Alcantara | Evo Black |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grip / hold | Maximum, bold texture | Very good, suede touch | Good, understated finish |
| Freedom of movement | Locked in (you stay put) | Supple (you can slide) | Versatile |
| Look | Racing, aggressive | Premium, matte, classy | Understated, goes with anything |
| Ideal rider | Demanding supermoto & wheelie | Comfort + style | Daily / small budget |
In short: the VELTO for the rider who pushes hard and wants maximum hold, the Alcantara for the grip/comfort/premium-look compromise, the Evo Black for an understated, affordable finish. If you're torn between grip and Alcantara, we wrote two articles tailored to your decision: synthetic leather, Alcantara or grip: which material to choose and supermotard cover: grip or Alcantara.
Who is the VELTO made for?
If you recognise yourself in one of these lines, go for it:
- You do supermotard and want to lock your footing on the way out of corners.
- You string wheelies together and you're sick of sliding back at the balance point.
- You ride hard, you brake late, and you want your seat to work with you.
- You want a racing look that shows, with custom colours.
If you're more of a chilled-cruise rider or you're just starting out, take a look at the full range in the 50cc cover collection before choosing — there's surely a finish better suited to your use.
Care: keep your grip at its best
Grip needs upkeep. No miracle product needed: a wipe with a sponge, lukewarm water, a mild soap, and rinse. Avoid the pressure washer at 30 cm on full blast and leaving it parked in the blazing sun all day. The better you look after it, the longer the hold stays solid over time.
FAQ — VELTO premium grip cover
Does the VELTO really slide less than the Alcantara?
Yes. The VELTO has a texture designed for maximum hold, where the Alcantara stays more supple and lets you slide to reposition yourself. If your priority is hold, the VELTO is on top.
How much does the VELTO cover cost?
The VELTO is listed at 164,90 € on its product page (price verified at time of writing). Free shipping from 100 € of purchase, and payment in 3 or 4 instalments at no charge.
Does the VELTO exist for my bike?
We cover a huge number of 50cc models (Derbi, Beta, Rieju, Sherco, MBK, Yamaha DT, Gilera, Aprilia, Fantic, Honda HM…). The simplest way: open the configurator and select your bike to see if it's available.
